At last, Sugar has had a lamb!
It's a teeny-tiny little ewe.
She was premature, which explains her size. We know this because when we turned Sugar over, her elder was full of a honey-like milk instead of the colostrum (first milk) that the little lamb needed.
As for names, the Charlotte who visited last weekend had already come up with one, and it's a whopper...
Meet Charlotte!
Yeah. She wanted a sheep named after herself.
But Charlotte wasn't very big or strong, so we brought her and Sugar inside.
Sugar's a good mum, and her milk will come in time.
The other lambs in the shed have got a new friend. He's brown, he's fluffy and he's called Ben.
Ben just loves to lick the lambs.
Even the little ones.
He's proud of his kids.
I tried to teach Pip to play ball yesterday, armed with my handy ball thrower.
Started well. I showed Pip the ball...
And chucked it!
The she carried it around for a bit, got bored and dropped it somewhere far away.
More practise needed.
Charlotte is SO cute! We are crossing all our paws that she will grow strong and prosper!
ReplyDeleteGood job on looking after the little ones, Ben. I would do the same.
Hey, Little Pip, fancy coming over here for some Chuck-it lessons? I am an expert! And yes, I do bring the ball back!
Woofs,
Tommy
Woof! Woof! Golden Congrats to Sugar!!! How cute ... Charlotte is a lovely name. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteCharlotte is adorable! Congrats to Sugar! Keep practicing Little Pip!
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
Charlotte is just so very tiny - hope she will be fine. Bet your friend will be very happy to have a namesake.
ReplyDeletePip is like us - we will run after a ball but bring it back - forget it - if you wanted it back, why did you throw it in the first place? BOL
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
sky just tries to attack the ball thrower :p whenever we use it she hasn't yet figured out that the ball does actually fly better when we use it, she gets bored and goes to try to catch a crow :p
ReplyDeleteAww..what a cute baby. I hope she will be okay and grows up big and strong.
ReplyDeletePip will get the hang of it in time.
Ben...what a good boy you are. :)
Charlotte is so CUTE! Sounds like she's in good hands. Ben is so sweet--what a good boy. And Pip! Keep at it--he'll get there.
ReplyDeleteOh! what a sweet lamb! I guess when you are a working dog like Pip, playing ball is a little frivolous...more important things to do?! Really enjoyed the pictures!
ReplyDeleteBen is a good caretaker! And that little Charlotte is a real cutie - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAs for Pip - you're right. A few more practice sessions might be in her future ;)
