Happy First Birthday, Susan and Bruce!

Bruce came to visit just over a week ago and had a great time running around with his sister, Susan.

Cousin Holly was there too!

It's been fun to see these two dogs mature side by side. Bruce is such a handsome boy.

He loves his tummy scratches!

And then there's Susan, my sweet Susan as I call her. What a dear little friend she is.

Happy birthday to these gorgeous babies.

Esther and Flowers

Over on Instagram, I discovered Lock & Field, makers of gorgeous flower crowns and floral dog collars. Well, of course, my first thought was how this could be applied to sheep too! I can't have them missing out on the fun.

I ordered a flower collar, and once it arrived I made a halter to match. Esther was the natural choice for model. (I must add this is her straight from the field - it's almost as if she knew there was going to be a photoshoot and she had to be clean for it.)

The collar has cute little flowers on it and is tied with a bow.

Of course this being a walk with a sheep, there have to be multiple snack breaks.

She looked proud of her flower collar.

The happy model also had to get lots of cuddles.

Yes Ball Games

Blue Belle is currently enjoying a whole field to herself - albeit one with little grass.

She has to share it sometimes - with Cousin Holly and Susan.

Cousin Holly has been here for over a week now and as always she's very happy to be here on her Holly-days.

Blue Belle wasn't interested in a family portrait.

Last time Holly came to stay, Sue was a lot shorter than this!

These two always have fun together.

...Until Susan steals Holly's ball. Then the chase is on!

Sue has a little play with the ball but she's not possessive of it so she gives it back willingly.

Holly just loves playing ball!

I'll leave you with Holly about to take flight!

Country Comes to Town, Leaves Immediately

Well, not quite. I was asked by the Shetland Pony group to come to Portadown to photograph their native pony show that takes place as part of the Country Comes to Town celebrations. But could I find them? No, I could not. I didn't know the area and I'd never been to the event before. The main street in the town and many side streets were lined with stalls and vintage vehicles but no ponies were in sight. I asked around and no one could tell me where they were so eventually, after two hours, I gave up.

While looking for the ponies I found a display of an old horse powered threshing machine.

The horse walks around in a circle and, through a series of cogs and chains, this drives the thresher.

While this was great, even better was the chicken who happily sat and went in circles with the machine.

There were a some very well turned out vintage vehicles.

My fellow Seeker of the Ponies was Cousin Holly, who's now halfway through her stay with us.

We took a break in the People's Park.

I'm not a fan of hustle and bustle, much preferring the peace of the countryside. So after two hours, I'd had enough of the town and wanted to return to the country. The Pot Belly Restaurant was the perfect escape.

It's a beautifully old-fashion place with good food...

...and a very grumpy cat called Mustard. (Very grumpy - there are posters warning you about him.)

While the day didn't go according to plan, Holly and I still had fun.
